Learn about the history of the locality as your English speaking guide shares interesting anecdotes. If that’s not all, enjoy Italian snacks, wine and drinks in the wine bars called enotica and aperitivos.
Indulge in a conversation with your fellow group members and guide, while you enjoy your food and drinks. We assure you that nothing will make your Milan experience more wonderful than this.
The ancient canals called Navigli were built mostly between the 12th and 16th centuries and once connected Milan to Genoa and were used for defense, irrigation and transportation purposes. The existing canals stretched from Milan to Pavia and the southern part of the city is built around two canals. Today, the canals are the hub of Milan’s sprawling nightlife, with exquisite restaurants and cafes aligned on the canals’ borders. The canal has a mention in William Shakespeare’s The Tempest in which Prospero and Miranda escaped along the canal.
To start your Milan Wine and Food Evening Tour at the Ancient Canals, along with your English speaking guide enjoy a glass of wine near Naviglio Grande, the oldest canal. Then s/he will take you for a leisurely walk while sharing notes about the history and traditions of the area, what Leonardo da Vinci and Napoleon had to do with this area and where to get the best Risotto alla Milanese made according to the original recipe.
Along the way, drink and dine like the locals who after work, hangout at the wine bars with friends. You will stop at a classy wine bar locally called enotica for wine, meat, cheese and breads. Everything is handpicked from the finest products available. The bar staff and your guide will explain how these wines and typical local products are made and what makes them so unique.
As you enjoy the evening, walk past the beautiful art studios, chic designer boutiques, and bookstores adorning the streets. Curious about something? Feel free to ask the guide as s/he will ensure that the tour is interactive and relaxing.
At the end of the tour, visit a traditional aperitivo of Italy.
