Overview

Make it a day to remember with a tour to Nikko and ninja shows.

Begin by travelling to Nikko by bus from Tokyo, where on arrival we take a tour of Toshogu Shrine, one of the country’s significant World Heritage Sites. Behold its beautifully ornate and lavish design that makes it a National Treasure of Japan and see the Edo period come to life before your eyes. 400 years old, to this day you can still spot the shrine’s legendary carvings; including the three monkeys depicting the proverb ‘hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil’, as well as the sleeping cat.

After the guided tour of the shrine, you have free time to spend having lunch in Nikko and making your way to the Fujiya Kanko Center on foot. From here you catch the free 40 minute shuttle bus service to where history has stood still - Nikko Edomura. See ninjas crawling the roofs, gracious samurai and humble geisha wandering the streets, in a place where the Edo period is still living and breathing. Enjoy Oiran (Edo period courtesans) and ninja shows and walk in a replica of an old Edo town before returning to modern day Japan taking the bus to Kinugawa-Onsen Station, and onwards to Tobu Asakusa by Tobu Limited Express.
