We all have places that we dream about visiting.\u00a0 Some people envision a relaxing massage on a tropical island.\u00a0 Others want to “become one” with the chaos of a megalopolis.\u00a0 And, some imagine trekking through a rugged, mountainous region.\u00a0 During my travels, I\u2019ve visited over 30 different countries.\u00a0 I don\u2019t know if that\u2019s considered \u201cwell-travelled\u201d.\u00a0 But, I do know that, going forward, these are the top 10 places I want to visit for the first time:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tokyo<\/a><\/h4>\n

Tokyo has been one of those places I want to visit for quite some time.\u00a0 And, the quirky pop culture, metropolitan hustle and bustle, and ancient traditions truly fascinate me.\u00a0 Also, the sushi, sumo matches, and sak\u00e9 don\u2019t do much to dissuade me from a\u00a0Tokyo trip, either!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Maldives<\/a><\/h4>\n

Several months ago, I wrote about the\u00a0Top 5 Most Romantic Places To Celebrate Valentine\u2019s Day<\/a>.\u00a0 And, unsurprisingly, the Maldives made the cut for reasons stated therein.\u00a0 I also asked readers to guess which of those countries I have never visited.\u00a0 So, now you have your answer!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Nepal<\/h4>\n

Every time I come back from a visa run to Sri Lanka, I tell myself that the next one will be to Nepal.\u00a0 Yet, at the end of every 180-day stay in India, I find that a flight to Kathmandu costs 50% more than a flight to Colombo.\u00a0 Oh well.\u00a0 You\u2019ll see me trekking high up in the Himalayas, eventually!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

New Orleans<\/a><\/h4>\n

Back home in the good ol\u2019 U.S. of A., it seems like everyone except me has taken a\u00a0New Orleans vacation!\u00a0 And, I think it\u2019s Mardi Gras, the Creole culture, and the music scene that draws in the tourists.\u00a0 But, for me, I just hope the drive-thru daiquiri stands are still open when I finally make my way down there.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

New Zealand<\/h4>\n

I mean, who doesn\u2019t want to visit New Zealand?\u00a0 Pristine nature, extreme sports, and cute, little, flightless birds attract tourists from across the globe.\u00a0 Also, there\u2019s a reason every new adventure movie uses New Zealand as its fantasy backdrop, you know?<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Madrid<\/a><\/h4>\n

Years ago, I did make it to Barcelona.\u00a0 And, the autonomous region of Catalu\u00f1a factors heavily into most Eurail vacations.\u00a0 But, a\u00a0Madrid trip\u00a0requires a bit of backtracking if you wish to make it part of your European circuit.\u00a0 So, maybe one day I\u2019ll go and use my 7 years of castellano studies.\u00a0 It sure didn\u2019t help much in Barcelona!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Bhutan<\/h4>\n

I mean, come on!\u00a0 A so-called \u201chermit kingdom\u201d that now welcomes tourists and measures the strength of its country in terms of Gross National Happiness rather than GDP \u00a0will always make my list.\u00a0 Although, rumors swirl about the actual happiness level of its people, its unique history and culture continues to suck me in!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Hong Kong<\/a><\/h4>\n

As China continues to dismantle everything that made Hong Kong such a powerful beacon of freedom in the far east, I can\u2019t help but wonder if I\u2019ll get to see it before it becomes just another dreary Chinese city.\u00a0 So, you better book your\u00a0Hong Kong tour\u00a0now because the government clampdown has already begun!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Antarctica<\/h4>\n

You might wonder if I am joking about wanting to go to Antarctica.\u00a0 I\u2019m not.\u00a0 The sense of adventure that comes with an Antarctica expedition has very few parallels.\u00a0 Plus, the dramatic landscapes turn even the worst amateur photographer into Ansel Adams.\u00a0 Also, where else can you check off all the countries on a continent in one fell swoop?<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
