With the world on your bucket list, figuring out where to travel next at the end of a long year can be tricky. Thankfully, Google has released their annual Year in Search data report<\/a>, providing plenty of inspiration for travellers who are sitting on the fence.\u00a0Google pros trawled through\u00a0trillions of 2017 search requests to uncover the most searched-for destinations that travellers may be planning to\u00a0visit in the year to come – and the results aren\u2019t what you\u2019d expect.<\/b><\/p>\n

This year, usual suspects like Paris and New York didn\u2019t make the cut. Instead, lesser-known gems like South Carolina\u2019s Myrtle Beach and Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic topped Google\u2019s searched-for list. The results\u00a0are also likely to be influenced by world events. Las Vegas<\/strong><\/a> topped the list\u00a0due, at least in part, to October’s mass shooting, while Barcelona<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s high ranking could be attributed to the secession and\u00a0terror attack as well as general interest in the destination. On the whole, the list was dominated by dreamy beachside getaways and holiday resorts, which we can definitely get behind. It’s time to buy yourself some new togs.<\/p>\n
