When you visit a city near the Valley of the Sun, you know you\u2019re in a destination where the heat beats down on your brow; the countryside a parched landscape. That\u2019s Phoenix, Arizona\u2019s city<\/a>, where 300 plus days of sunshine allow you, the visitor, to enjoy its sunny climate and unique landscape. With the Grand Canyon<\/a> on the doorstep, you\u2019d be forgiven for spending much time in the urban sprawl. Start in the Downtown<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n

Phoenix\u2019s epicentre is a mix of the cultural and the commerce. It\u2019s here you\u2019ll find the thriving culinary scene. So, you can take your pick from the restaurants, live music venues and sample the cocktails and craft brews. This area is also where you\u2019ll find the museums and art galleries, theatres and rooftop lounges. The area to mark on your map for this mix of culture, food and entertainment is Roosevelt Row.

As you explore, keep an eye out for places like the Arizona Science Center in Heritage Square, the Japanese Friendship Garden, Phoenix art museum, Heard Museum, the public market and Herberger Theater Center. Those places alone offer plenty to do and see during the day and the night.<\/span><\/p>\n

Head for the old town<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n

Phoenix old town is the place to grab those all-important souvenirs. We\u2019re talking cowboy hats and jewellery. The old town is great for a stroll, so just take it all in, soak it all up and start to build yourself up towards exploring the region. The city is impressive to explore, but the surrounding landscape is something else. There\u2019s the desert and canyons out there<\/a>, vast, open, dusty spaces. Among this dry landscape, you\u2019ll find attractions like the Desert Botanical Garden. From towering saguaros to delicate plants, it is a showcase to the arid plants that make up the landscape.<\/span><\/p>\n

Then there\u2019s the Sonoran Desert, a municipal park where outdoor adventures await. Whether you hike or ride or sky dive! These 16,000 acres of desert land are the perfect escape from the city vibes.<\/span><\/p>\n

Camelback Mountain is another place, worthy of note. There are two trails to reach its summit and the views of the city are simply magnificant. You\u2019ll gain around 1,200 ft in elevation and is a popular hiking route too. Pack plenty of supplies if you\u2019re doing this one.<\/span><\/p>\n

There’s no denying that heading into this arid landscape is the main reason for visiting this area. So be sure to make the most of your time here, as it is a special place to come.<\/p>\n
