You\u2019ve heard the song, haven\u2019t you? \u2018Tiptoe through the tulips with me\u2019 Well if not, a day at Keukenhof <\/a>and you\u2019ll soon realise how apt that song really is! Gaze out, and you\u2019ll see a sea of colours and more tulips than you could ever imagine. 7 million or so \u2013 that\u2019ll save you counting! There are many wonders of the world, all worthy of such praise. Maybe Keukenhof should be added to that list? It\u2019s that special. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Here\u2019s our guide on how to make the most of a day at Keukenhof \u2013 an extraordinary place.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

1.\u00a0<\/strong>Get set, or you\u2019ll miss it<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Most importantly, you really don\u2019t want to miss seeing them, smelling them \u2013 you get the idea. Being a spring event the season is short (max 7 weeks!) so get your tickets early! It\u2019s an event that runs from late March to early May with the peak viewing time being the middle of April. Really, don\u2019t delay, get planning now!<\/p>\n

2. It\u2019s easily accessible from Amsterdam<\/a> or any Dutch city<\/strong><\/h4>\n

You don\u2019t have to stay close by as Amsterdam<\/a> is an hour away! So visit the capital and head out for a day among the flowers during your stay.\u00a0 Or if you\u2019re staying in another of Holland\u2019s major cities like Eindhoven, Rotterdam or The Hague, then you can easily access Keukenhof too. So no excuses, there\u2019s no way you can miss out and enjoy a day out.<\/p>\n

3. Take your time<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Why rush? You\u2019re there for the day. Stroll around the displays, soak it all in! There\u2019s plenty to do while there. You can take a guided tour, go on a whisper boat through the tulip fields or take to two wheels and cycle around the site. You\u2019ll also find, depending on the day you visit, activities and events running. This will include a Rose Show, Dutch Heritage Weekend and specific flower displays. Plenty to keep anyone occupied.<\/p>\n

4. Flowers, flowers and more flowers<\/strong><\/h4>\n

When you visit Keukenhof, you\u2019ll soon discover that there is more than just tulips to see. There are different gardens to please any green-fingered person.<\/p>\n

  • Reconnection garden<\/em> \u2013 It\u2019s back to nature here \u2013 sustainable materials at its core.<\/li>\n
  • Tropical Beach garden<\/em> \u2013 Chill out here, think palm trees and a tropical atmosphere<\/li>\n
  • Culture garden<\/em> \u2013 The power of colours, rituals and celebrations from around the world<\/li>\n
  • Green tea garden<\/em> \u2013 From herbs to chocolate mint plants. Enjoy a cuppa in the greenhouse<\/li>\n
  • Cottage garden<\/em> \u2013 Indigenous plants and flower providing enjoyment.<\/li>\n
  • Mystical Garden<\/em> – Make contact with nature in this garden. Time to soothe the mind and body<\/li>\n
  • Red Romance garden<\/em> \u2013 Time to share the love! It\u2019s called the \u2018Bridal lane\u2019 after all!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Phew, that\u2019s a lot of gardens to explore. All with different themes, all inspiring. You\u2019ll also find sculptures and other works of art throughout the garden so keep those eyes peeled in all directions.<\/p>\n

    There\u2019s a reason why this place is called the Garden of Europe, it\u2019d beginnings dating back to the 15th<\/sup> century, so you can be assured that its title is more than worthy.
