However, if you’d like to explore beyond the island of the Gods, here are five options that will most definitely, leave you speechless. Four of them are easy to get to as they’re right next to Bali, and one is a little bit further out. Either way – they’re all so worth it.

Nusa Lembongan

Bali – Nusa Lembongan

Nusa Lembongan is one of those places that look just as beautiful in real life as it does on Instagram. The island is home to several idyllic beaches.

The beaches include ‘Dream Beach’ – a 115 metre long stretch of dramatic rock formations and white sand. Paradise beach – a brilliant spot for sunsets or beach walks. And a popular choice – the Mushroom Bay, where you can rent a bungalow, and it’s near some pretty cool surf spots. Sunset Beach, Tamarind Beach, and so much more!

If beaches are not enough – feel free to explore the mangrove forest on a wooden boat with the locals, or you could rent a paddleboat too and go at your own pace. There are also the seaweed farms, the Goa Gala-Gala underground house and insane surf spots such as the Playgrounds or Lacerations.

Nusa Penida

Bali – Nusa Penida

Right next to Nusa Lembongan is the much bigger Nusa Penida. Once again, as beautiful as in pictures – there is an endless number of spots to visit. Many try to fit it all in one day – but this is definitely tricky, considering how spread-out all the ‘popular’ attractions are.

Some of the spots include the famous Broken Beach (Pasih Uug), marked by a very distinguishable rock formation making the view pretty spectacular with the crashing waves.

There is also the 200-metre stretch of white sand called the Crystal Bay, with one of Bali’s best diving spots right next to it, with pristine coral reefs and fish called Mola-Mola, manta rays and even whale sharks. Snorkelling is also an option in many areas of Nusa Penida, especially right near the shorelines.

For more cultural spots, there is the famous temple called Goa Giri Putri, in the village of Karangsari as well as another temple called Pura Penataran in Karangdawa.

Nusa Ceningan

Bali – Nusa Ceningan

Located between both of the above – Nusa Lembogan and Nusa Penida are the beautiful Nusa Ceningan. The beauty of it is insane, and it’s much more relaxed and chilled compared to its neighbours. Surfing spots are definitely something that attracts people to the island but not only!

The Blue Lagoon is a spot with the most spectacular hues of blue you’ll ever see. With the surrounding cliffs and just beauty in general. Another thing to mention is, of course, the yellow bridge which needs to be crossed to reach the island – no cars allowed, as soon as it’s crossed – you’ll see the endless beauty of many shades of blue.

For adventure seekers – there is a spot called Mahana Point – known for its cliff jumping, just keep in mind that you need to pay for it. There are (of course) some stunning beaches, a zipline (at Driftwood bar) with probably one of the most spectacular views you’ll ever see from a zipline and the insane snorkelling and diving. If that’s not enough – yoga is also available on this island.

Gili Meno

Bali – Gili Meno

One of the popular trio (although there are more Gili’s than most of us knew about..) Gili Meno is the quietest one of the three – the other two being Gili Trawagan, known as the party island and Gili Air – the one ‘in-between’. Gili Meno is the perfect gateway for a quiet break, filled with stunning beaches. It’s laid back atmosphere makes this island a popular choice for honeymooners and couples.

The dining scene is mostly local cafes on the beach serving grilled fish, perfect for watching the sunset and the possibility of chilling in the hammocks, while reading or merely breathing it all in is something that is most definitely possible on the island.

Gili Meno is also home to the ‘Gili Meno Wall’ where you’ll be able to help and release turtles as well as being able to witness the enormous moray Eels at night when diving!

Moyo Island

Bali – Moyo Island

A little bit further away from Bali is the beauty that’s called Moyo Island. Home to only 2000 people, the island is only just becoming more open to tourism. Therefore it will most likely feel like a little bit of a throwback to the island life we all imagine.

There is a vast national park that has a deer sanctuary! Now, this isn’t the standard national park either – with opportunities for hiking, swimming, and just enjoying the beauty of the nature surrounding you. The waterfalls will leave you speechless.

Of course, snorkelling and diving are spectacular, in the coral-rich waters surrounding the island. Keep in mind that due to the island not being so popular (yet), it’s slightly more tricky to get to!

So here we go!
