The rough-and-ready working-class neighbourhood of Belleville is known for its street art, cool, eclectic cafes and bars, and unique shopping outlets. The long stretch of shops along the Rue de Belleville<\/em> has all sorts of homeware, food and style fodder ideal for individuals looking for something completely original.<\/p>\n

Depending on the time you visit, you may find yourself in the monthly street food market. Close by is the Rue Sainte-Marthe<\/em>, a quiet street is lined with art studios and plenty of eateries. Check those out and the street art that is dotted throughtout the district.<\/p>\n

Are you in the market for second-hand trinkets and exotic curios? You\u2019re in the right city. A rummage through a flea market or two is practically mandatory in Paris. It’s where eccentric stallholders and antique dealers travel from far and wide to share their wares. The best of the bunch is the March\u00e9 aux Puces de St-Ouen<\/em> (said to be the biggest flea market in the world). Les Puces de Montreuil<\/em> and March\u00e9 aux Puces de la Porte de Vanves<\/em>.<\/p>\n

For boutique shopping<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Marais, the heart of Gay Paree, is the place to visit for boutique shopping in the city. Everything from larger chain stores (the sophisticated ones like Sandro and Maje, no H&M\u2019s here) to significant designers, little knick knack shops and concept stores. Each vie for your attention on these quaint streets, which feel both old-world and super modern. The area caters to the city\u2019s cool crowd, meaning there are plenty of kitsch and trendy bars, restaurants and cafes to pop into once shopper\u2019s fatigue hits.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s no better way to appreciate the Parisian shopping of old than by visiting the city\u2019s 18th-century arcades. Today only a few of the original hidden shopping passages remain. However, if you know where to go, shopping in a stunning belle \u00e9poque arcade, a glittering art nouveau Galerie or an ancient courtyard is still well within reach.<\/p>\n

Our favourites are the Passage du Grand Cerf, Galerie Vivienne, Passage Moli\u00e8re and Passage des Panoramas. Though you\u2019ll need to have a bulky wallet if you\u2019re looking to do anything more than window shop.<\/p>\n
