Understand the authentic Australian cultures with the help of a knowledgeable host along with a private tour of the Australian Museum and Exhibition. This highly exclusive experience provides a deep understanding and authentic connection to Australia's Indigenous cultures. Enjoy hotel pickup and head first to the Australian Museum for a private 1 hour tour around the key indigenous exhibits with a senior level in-house guide. Your private museum guide will fast track you through all of the key exhibits to give you a thorough understanding of the cultural collections and First Australians galleries home to the permanent exhibitions Garrigarrang: Sea Country and Bayala Nura: Yarning Country which celebrate the history, spirituality and diversity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders.
Next, you will have a chance to discover the world's oldest living culture, first hand through the eyes of a local Aboriginal man, a respected member of the Yuin-Dharawal nation, and your guide for the next 2 hours. Your host will drive you directly to La Perouse, on the northern headland of Botany Bay (just 30mins from Sydney CBD), a land the Aboriginal people once called Guriwal, "Whale". Here you will meet your Aboriginal guide who will conduct a traditional ‘Welcome To Country’ ceremony, formally blessing you to walk the land with him and opening your mind and soul to the learning of the land. Your Aboriginal guide will take you on a 2 hour walking tour through Kamay Botany Bay National Park - giving you an insight into the oldest living culture on Earth. Discover the ancient history of the bush, Caring for Country' and all the local plants and animals and some of their traditional uses.
Botany Bay is the site of first contact with Aboriginal people during European settlement and your Aboriginal guide can provide authentic stories from this time. Australian native plants have been used for thousands of years by Aboriginal people. Over morning tea you'll be able to taste some traditional recipes as well as contemporary creations using native ingredients such as lemon myrtle, wattle seed and macadamia nut oil. From La Perouse, head to an authentic Aboriginal Art Gallery to view art sources from some of the most remote Aboriginal communities in the county before stopping for lunch at one of the beaches along the way, giving you the chance to taste some of Sydney's fresh and gourmet delights.
