Overview

Kutná Hora owes its origin, in the 13th century, to the discovery of silver ore in the region. The city once rivalled Prague and London for size and importance and competed with these two cities economically, politically and culturally.

The legacy of that time can be seen in the many beautiful and important buildings in the area. The Gothic and Baroque architecturally styles are still visible and a joy for all visitors. UNESCO has declared the town a Heritage Site. This tour allows you plenty of time to walk the cobbled streets of Kutná Hora and enjoy a traditional Czech lunch in a charming restaurant.

You will also visit the nearby town of Sedlec, which is famous for the somewhat macabre Bone Church containing about 40,000 human skeletons.

Itinerary

This coach tour starts from the Old Town Square in Prague. You will travel to the UNESCO World Heritage town of Kutná Hora.

On arrival in Kutna Hora you will take a tour of the historical town centre. Many of the buildings that you will see influenced the architecture of Central Europe. One of the highlights is the St. Barbara Cathedral. This jewel of a building has five naves and construction started in 1368 and was completed in 1565. St. Barbara is the patron saint of miners.

After walking through the charming cobble stoned streets of Kutná Hora, it is time for lunch. You will be treated to a three course traditional Czech lunch with drinks.

In the afternoon travel to Ossuary (Bone Church) in the neighbouring town of Sedlec (also a UNESCO Heritage Site). This is a macabre yet intriguing chapel. The ossuary contains about 40,000 human skeletons, which have been artistically arranged to form decorations and furnishings for the chapel – including chandeliers.

After this tour you will be taken back to Prague and the end of your tour.

This trip is extremely good value for money with an amazing Czech meal.
My only criticism would be that it was a little rushed at times.
The guide was very interesting, knowledgeable and friendly and I would recommend this trip.
