    On this Hop-On Hop-Off Tour, you have the freedom to plan your own sightseeing itinerary. With over 16 stops covering all of Palermo’s main attractions such as the The Teatro Politeama, Quattro Canti, Palazzo Reale, Giardino Inglese and Castello Della Zisa , this tour provides the perfect introduction to Palermo.

    Two routes are available on this tour. Your ticket is valid for both routes, 24 hours from when you first board the bus.

    Your ticket allows you unlimited use, meaning you can hop-on and hop-off as many times as you like at any of the designated stops! There is a multilingual commentary on this tour.

    On route A, the bus stops include :

    The Teatro Politeama: The theatre was constructed in 1891 and reflects the artistic culture in Palermo. It is circular in shape and has a double portico with a series of slender Ionic Corinthian columns.
    Teatro Massimo: It is one of the largest opera theatres in Europe and is an important building in Palermo. The interior has a classical style while the exterior follows the liberty style.
    Quattro Canti: The square is also referred to as the ‘theatre of the sun’, since it is illuminated by the sun’s rays from dawn to dusk. The four buildings that comprise the Quattro Canti have sculptures on their façade depicting different themes like the four seasons amongst others.
    Palazzo Steri: The palace is a square, clean-cut structure and its façade is embellished by exceptionally beautiful three-light mullioned windows. The great hall is famous for its beautiful wooden ceiling with paintings of biblical episodes and tales of chivalry.
    Orto Botanico: The botanical garden is home to at least 12000 different species of plants and is situated at 10m above sea-level covering about 30 acres of land. It is also a research and educational institution.
    Stazione Centrale: Stazione Centrale is the main railroad station. The 17th century church of Sant Antonio is located nearby.
    Palazzo Reale: The palace was the summer residence of the Emirs of Palermo and is situated on the highest place in the city. At present the palace is the seat of the parliament of Sicily.
    Cattedrale: The huge cathedral was built in 1184 in place of a mosque and since then has undergone several renovations over the centuries. Its 14th century door and Gothic-Catalan style portico are worth a visit.
    Mercato Vucciria: It is an old and popular open air market of Palermo.

    On route B, the bus stops include:

    Giardino Inglese:The venue for the Solmusic festival which is dedicated to emerging local bands, Palermo’s English Garden is a treat to visit. The garden has some exotic trees and fountains along with bathtubs and an artificial small lake.
    Villa Malfitano: It is one of Palermo’s grand villa palaces. Built in the liberty style it has a spectacular garden with many rare species. The summer room of this villa is a sight to behold with trompe l’oeil frescoes covering the walls and ceilings.
    Castello Della Zisa: The Norman Castle gets its name from the Arab word ei-aziz, meaning splendid. Its richly decorated interior covered in marble and mosaic feature typical Arab motifs.
    Mercato Del Capo:It is a famous food and fish market.
    Teatro Massimo: It is one of the largest opera theatres in Europe and is an important building in Palermo. The interior has a classical style while the exterior follows the liberty style.
    Porto:The Porto Palermo bay houses the Ali Pasha Fortress which derived its name from Ali Pasha who tried to capture the Christian ships during an attack on Palermo by the Muslims.

    Additional info

    The access to the bus is permitted for little and medium domestic animals under the discretion of the driver. Using muzzle and leash is mandatory and the holder must assure that the pet carrier is not in a poor state or that it does not contain food. The owner or the holder of the animal is liable for any damage caused by the animal.

    For safety reasons it is strictly forbidden to bring luggage, awkward bags, big backpacks or bulky baggage on board the City Sightseeing buses.
