  • Overview & Itinerary

Follow the trail of the Beat generation and 1960s folk-rock history as you bar hop along some of the city’s most famous watering holes in the heart of Greenwich Village.

Enjoy the bohemian atmosphere of this vibrant part of town, and visit the bars which inspired generations of artists, writers, musicians and politicians to challenge comfortable conservative conventions. Visit the bar where Bobby Kennedy made the fateful decision to run for President of the United States in 1968 and hear the legend of playwright Dylan Thomas and his death in one of the city’s most famous taverns.

From Bob Dylan to Jack Kerouac, Allen Ginsberg and the Clancy Brothers, you will learn all about the great artists and musicians who once sat on the stools in these bars. Venture to the musically charged Bleeker Street where young artists perform on the very stage that launched the careers of Bruce Springstein and other famous artists.

Explore the bohemian soul of New York City on this West Village Pub Crawl – New York. You should make your way to the White Horse Tavern, 567 Hudson Street at W. 11th Street where your (English-speaking) guide will be waiting outside.

With your guide you will visit three different pubs during the evening and enjoy one complimentary drink at each. You can easily walk from one bar to the other and the distance covered on the tour is about 1.4 miles (2.3 km).

In the first half of the 20th century, cheap rents in Greenwich Village drew an eclectic mix of students, immigrants and struggling artists to the area. It's here you find the bars frequented by the Beat generation of the 1940s and 50s and immortalized by writer Jack Kerouac in his famous novel 'On the Road'.

You will follow the trail of the beat generation to visit the venues where Kerouac and friends such as Allen Ginsberg, Neal Cassady and William Burroughs read poetry, drank and talked all night. Have a drink in the bohemian ‘White Horse Tavern,’ and hear the tragic story of Dylan Thomas’ death.

Visit the eclectic Kettle of Fish, an authentic Greenwich Village neighborhood bar where the likes of Bob Dylan and the beat artists used to hang out.

You can also experience one of New York City’s classic dive bars with an original jukebox, and relive folk-rock history on world-famous Bleecker Street. Enjoy a drink in the ambient Café Wha where the likes of Jimi Hendrix and Bruce Springstein began their musical careers.

Your tour ends at Kenny's Castaway, Bleecker Street.
