Itinerary

Day 1: Marrakech - Imlil - Aroumd - Sidi Chamharouch - Imlil

You will be picked up from your hotel in Marrakech at 0900h (9am). Take an exhilarating drive south through the Moulay Brahim Gorges and the high valleys to the Berber town of Imlil (1740m), . Here we shall leave our vehicle to take a welcome glass of mint tea in our gîte d’étape prior to setting out for some 4km. towards the south to the Berber village of Aroumd (Aremd) (1843m).

Head south to the Berber village of Aroumd (1843m), passing the hamlets of Taourirt, Targa, and Imoula, up and down the stark slopes of the jagged Western High Atlas peaks. We shall stop at Aroumd to visit this rather singular village in the Assif Aït Mizane Valley. We then carry on for another 8km to the equally-quaint village of Sidi Chamharouch.

Enjoy a well earned break for a picnic, within full view of Jbel Toubkal, which, at 4167m is the highest peak in the Maghreb. Then begin your descent down the valley to Imlil and overnight in our Berber Gîte d’étape.

Day 2: Imlil - Tizi n’Tamatert - Ouaneskra - Imenane Valley - Tizi n’Aguersioual - Marrakech

We set out today towards the east, up winding mule tracks to the Tizi n’Tamatert (2269m) on our way to Tizi n’Ouaneskra (2100m). From here we can see Jbel Oukaïmeden and the beautiful encircled plateau.

Refreshed, we set off down to the Assif Imenane Valley, passing through several Berber hamlets and then up to the Tizi Aguersiouâl (1938m). To end the tour we follow winding mule tracks leading to the village of Aguersiouâl where we rejoin our vehicle at 1630h (4.30pm) to take us back to Marrakech.
