Overview
A trip to Australia can only be complete once you have enjoyed a ride on Australia’s favourite steam train. The Puffing Billy Railway is a heritage railway in the Dandenong Ranges near Melbourne and is an absolutely delightful tourist experience that you must not miss.
The tour will start with a journey through Melbourne’s eastern suburbs with views of the picturesque Dandenong Ranges in the distance. The Dandenongs also has a number of cafes and arts & crafts stores. This will be followed by a morning tea break at the beautiful Grants on Sherbrooke where the traditional Aussie Billy tea will be served. While at Grant's, you can hand-feed some of the striking Australian birds like the Crimson Rosella, the sulphur-crested Cockatoo and pink-chested Galah.
This will be followed by a 30 minutes Puffing Billy train ride from Belgrave to Menzies Creek, right through the charming Sherbrooke forest. The stunning views of Port Phillip Bay and the old Trestle Bridge make this train ride an absolute delight.
Your next stop will be Victoria’s premium wine-producing region. The scenery en route is striking with the Great Dividing Range as the backdrop. Tour through the Yarra Valley and enjoy a sumptuous lunch at a Yarra Valley Winery (if you choose). Tantalize your taste buds at another Yarra Valley Winery where you may sample and buy a selection of quality local wines. Enjoy a visit to a third local winery to sample some more delicious Australian wines. Spend a day enjoying the beautiful Victorian countryside exploring premium wineries.
