You will be dropped off to your hotel after the tour.
Soak in the spectacular scenery of the most beautiful rainforest in Victoria. Admire the picturesque Dandenong Ranges in the distance. Admire the lush ferns, dense forests, the waterfalls, rolling hills and steep valleys.
Enjoy a scenic ride on the famous Puffing Billy Steam Train. Step back to the early 1900's and travel on this vintage railway through the heart of the lush rainforests. Enjoy magnificent views and look out for wildlife as you trundle along the track.
Stop at Grant’s Reserve, a haven in the wilderness, for a sumptuous Devonshire Cream Tea. Meet and hand-feed beautiful Australian birds such as the crimson rosella, sulphur-crested cockatoo and pink-chested galah – a perfect photo-opportunity!
Visit the scenic Healesville Sanctuary, in the heart of the Yarra Valley, where you come face to face with Aussie wildlife in their natural habitat. Walk the paths and see wallabies, wombats, koalas, kangaroos, dingoes and more than 200 native bird varieties.
You will be picked up from your hotel at the scheduled time in the morning for the start of the tour. You will be driven to the Grants of Sherbrooke, nestled amid the beautiful Dandenong Mountain Ranges. En route, relax and soak in the great scenery of lush ferns and dense forests of the nearby Dandenong Ranges.
Grants on Sherbrooke & Devonshire Tea:
You’ll be mesmerized by the scenic beauty upon arrival at Grants on Sherbrooke. Have some downtime with a refreshing cup of traditional Devonshire Tea, served in china teacups along with homemade jam and cream scones.
Grants on Sherbrooke is home to many native birds including the Crimson Rosella, sulphur-crested Cockatoo and pink-chested Galah. At the Grants’ picnic spot, you can handfeed the birds and listen out for the delightful birdsongs from the forest.
Puffing Billy train ride:
The next treat in store is a 30-minute ride on the Puffing Billy train, one of the world’s best-preserved steam railways. This train and its characteristic red carriages, is a century-old and still runs on its original mountain track through the Dandenongs.
Departing from Belgrave you’ll trundle through lush Sherbrooke forests, full of ferns and soaring mountain ash trees. Ride over the old Trestle Bridge and enjoy stunning views and marvellous photo-opportunities from the open carriages. You will alight from the train at Menzies Creek and continue with the coach tour.
Healesville Wildlife Sanctuary:
After your Puffing Billy train ride, pay a visit to the popular Healesville Wildlife Sanctuary. See wallabies, wombats, koalas, kangaroos, dingoes and more than 200 native birds in a natural bushland environment and learn about their characteristics and habitats through animal shows and exhibits. Enjoy a quick lunch at the sanctuary (at your own expense), walk through the spectacular aviary and enjoy close-up encounters with Aussie wildlife.
After the tour, you will be driven back to Melbourne and dropped off to your hotel.
