Overview

See the major attractions of Phillip Island, including the famous Penguin Parade, with this guided tour from Melbourne. Visit the site of the first European garden in Victoria at Churchill Island, get up close with koalas at the Koala Conservation Centre and enjoy epic water views at The Nobbies. For many, though, the day’s highlight is witnessing hundreds of Little Penguins make their way to the burrows after sunset during the Penguin Parade.

With a guide and hotel transfers, this Phillip Island tour explores the best of the region’s attractions.

Itinerary

You will depart from Melbourne and head to your first stop, the tiny Churchill Island. Here you will learn about the first settlers of this region and discover more about the lifestyle and farming activities practiced on the island.

Next, you will head to the Koala Conservation Centre, where you will enjoy close encounters with furry koalas in their natural habitats. You will also see wallabies and echidnas along the way.

Continue your tour to the waterfront of Cowes and then to The Nobbies, a magnificent headland with views to the far horizon. Observe one of the largest colonies of fur seals in the world called Seal Rocks from the boardwalk. If you’re lucky you may also see penguins trundle up the beach during the day.

You will then head to the Phillip Island Visitor Centre where you can enjoy a cup of coffee (direct payable) or find out about the Little Penguins and their lifestyle. You can also browse through their souvenir shop for your own little piece of Penguin memorabilia. Walk towards the viewing platform to witness the major highlight of the tour, the Penguin Parade. As the sun sets, see hundreds of the smallest species of penguins, known as Little Penguins, emerge from the sea and trundle up the beach to their burrows on the island.

At the end of the parade, you will head back to Melbourne.
