Begin the tour with an optional visit to the Blue Grotto cave system (not included) and admire this spectacular area. Every day from sunrise until the early afternoon you can bear witness to a unique sight in the grotto, as the blue sky reflects off the white sandy seabed under the caves, resulting in vibrant azure and cobalt coloured waters. The mixture of bright sunlight and the phosphorescent colours of the submerged flora and the deep dark shade of blue of the sea provide an unforgettable sight not to be missed.
Next, head to the quaint and colourful fishing village of Marsaxlokk whose water front is lined with “luzzus” painted in traditional reds, blues and yellows that add colour to this peaceful bay once the site of the first Turkish landing during the Great Siege of 1565. Enjoy free time to explore the village and the browse the local market stalls that sell an array of products. Although the market was originally a fish market, it has flourished into a popular market offering locally produced honey, fruit jams, wine as well as vegetables, souvenirs and even clothes.
