Auschwitz-Birkenau Tour

Kickstart this full-day tour from Krakow with a visit to the infamous Nazi concentration camps. While on your way to the site, watch a short documentary film - The Liberation of Auschwitz. Once you reach the campsite, you will meet your guide, who will help you skip the long queues and take you right inside Auschwitz. You will see the infamous inscription ‘Arbeit Macht Frei’ over the entrance gate, which translates to – “work makes you free”. During the tour, you will realize how ironic this slogan is.

Discover the history of World War II and the Holocaust in Poland as you tour the museum and preserved sights, such as barracks, railroad tracks or rows of gas chambers chimneys. It is a truly haunting experience as you step back in time and relive the incarceration, suffering, and torture of millions of Jews, one of the heinous and gruesome episodes in world history.

Wieliczka Salt Mine Tour

In the afternoon, you will get to visit the medieval Wieliczka Salt Mine, an underground complex, and see its chambers carved in salt.

Meet your guide on arrival at the Salt Mine, who will show you the way to all the Wieliczka’s underground wonders for the next two and a half hours. Explore a unique underground complex of chambers and chapels, such as St. Anthony’s Chapel and St. Kinga’s Chapel, where even chandeliers are made of salt crystals by the former miners.

Being the only site in the world where mining has continued ever since the Middle Ages, the tourists get to learn about all the stages of mining technology and development over time. As you continue a remarkable journey of this UNESCO World Heritage Site, witness original excavations such as longitudinals, traverses, chambers, lakes and minor and major shafts that lie on nine levels and stretch to about 300 kilometres.

You may be asked to show your passport when you visit Auschwitz. Carry the same and fill your full name (and of people traveling with you) and passport details while booking this tour in the special requests section as a security measure.

Avoid bringing large purses, bags, or backpacks as there will be security checks while entering the attractions.

Auschwitz and Birkenau mostly have dirt tracks, which may cause minor difficulties for wheelchair-users. Few areas are not accessible by wider wheelchairs or baby pushchairs. For the comfort of visitors with mobility problems, the museum provides substitute wheelchairs of sizes that allow moving around the grounds and buildings. Our driver will help you arrange a substitute wheelchair.

There are no restrictions regarding the age of children in Wieliczka Salt Mine and Auschwitz Birkenau Memorial and Museum, but they should be either capable of walking unassisted or carried in baby slings or baby carriers. Baby pushchairs are not allowed underground (salt mine).

Temperatures in Wieliczka Salt Mine are around 59ºF (15ºC). Also, it should be taken into account that narrow paths may seem claustrophobic, and once underground there is no possibility to shorten your visit and turn back. At the entrance, visitors go 400 steps down and the whole tourist route features over 800 stairs.

Again excellent just knew small complaint, we weren't made aware that birkenau was so much walking , perhaps warn people before so they can make a choice before doing it and the guide needs to walk slower and keep the group together.
