Overview

Very close to the town of Arucas, in the north of the island of Gran Canaria, the first marquis of Arucas and his wife had this large romantic garden, known as the Jardin de la Marquesa, built in 1880. The site they close couldn´t have been more perfect: the shelter provided by the Arucas montain and the proximity of the coast create a pleasant micro-climate that lends itself to the dense growth of the over 2,500 plants belonging to 400 tropical and subtropical species that currently exist in the garden. The Marquis was a keen botanist and managed to collect flora from the five continents for this five-hectare graden with its irregular layout. One of the most notable tree species is the magnificent Drago tree, which is estimated to be between 400 and 500 years old and is the most symbolic tree in the garden, this is a jewel for all nature lovers in outstanding place, with an exceptional weather throughout the whole year.
