Overview

Explore the beautiful and awe-inspiring Palace of Versailles and Claude Monet’s garden in Giverny on this tour.

The Palace of Versailles is a grand palace, world renowned and draws tourists from far and wide to explore its lavish interiors and formal gardens. Built by Louis the XIV, the famous Palace of Versailles was designed to awe with its opulence. The 75 metre long Hall of Mirrors is particularly impressive with 17 huge mirrors and stucco work showing the monarch in various guises.

Claude Monet’s garden in Giverny is where the famous impressionist artist painted the Water Lilies series. The artist has a lovely airy studio, which now houses reproductions of his work. Monet’s garden in Giverny is particularly delightful for its profusion of flowers in different shades and colours. The Japanese bridge covered in purple wisterias and the water pond is picture perfect.

With history, art and culture, this tour of the Palace of Versailles and Monet’s garden will be a memorable experience.

Itinerary

Set out at 8:15am, accompanied by an English-speaking guide you will travel in an air conditioned vehicle on the Normandy highway to Giverny. A charming country village, where famous Water Lilies series were painted by the famous artist Claude Monet. He was one of the first artists of his time to step out of the studio and experiment with light, shadow and the different effects of sunlight on nature.

See Monet's home, studio and garden on your visit to Giverny. A profusion of flowers in every possible shade and colour makes this garden a must visit. Stroll around and admire the pond and the Japanese bridge covered in purple wisteria.

Stop for lunch in the Moulin de Fourges restaurant. After lunch, enjoy priority entrance to the enormous Palace of Versailles. Built by Louis the XIV in the mid 17th century, it is the most luxurious palace in France. Visit the Grand Apartments, the King’s Suite and Queen’s Suite and see lavishly decorated rooms with frescoes, marble, gilt, woodwork and symbols from Roman and Greek mythology. The Hall of Mirrors is the most opulent of all. A 75 metre long ballroom, it has 17 huge mirrors on one side and windows overlooking formal gardens on the other. Also visit the apartments of the Dauphin and Dauphine.
