The delightful Heritage Tour of the East Coast From Dubai takes you through magnificent desert scenery and introduces you to the emirate of Fujairah.
The adventure begins when you are picked up by air-conditioned coach from your hotel in Dubai.
Leaving the bustling city of Dubai, you will drive past the neighboring emirate of Sharjah and go throughMasafi, a small city that is famous for its water-bottling plant and its famous Friday market, a type of a street-side bazaar.
The tour continues to the seaport town of Dibba on the east coast, located directly on the Indian Ocean. The large natural harbor has been an important site of maritime trade and settlement since the pre-Islamic era. There is some evidence, mainly from tombs, of settlement during the later 2nd millennium and the early first millennium BCE.
Historically, Dibba was an international market on the coast of Oman, frequented by merchants from India and China sailing through the Arabian Sea.
You then drive past date and palm farms close to the Hajar Mountain Range with its contrasting silhouettes. This mountain range is the highest in the eastern Arabian Peninsula and is rich in flora and fauna. You will stop at scenic spots to take photos and, if you wish, to have a refreshing dip in the Indian Ocean at a hotel (beach charges payable direct).
After a break, you will proceed to the emirate of Fujairah, which is home to the oldest mosque in the UAE. Built in 1446 of mud and bricks, the Al Bidiyah Mosque has four domes (unlike other similar mosques which have between seven and 12), and lacks a minaret. The mosque is located below the historic watch towers, which helped in the observation of the old sea routes hundreds of years ago. Fujairah is an important stop-off point for ships traveling to South East Asia. The shipping routes through the Arabian Sea make it one of the world’s largest ship refueling and bunkering stations.
At the end of the tour, you’ll return via air-conditioned coach to your hotel in Dubai.
Please call the local activity operator at least 24 hours prior to the start of the tour to confirm all departure details.
