Overview

Behind every historical capital, there is a great big river. And Delhi is not an exception. The River Yamuna has played a big role in the development of the city. Emperors from different dynasties created cities along its banks. Yamuna’s Nigambodh Ghat has been the cremation ground for the Hindus for centuries. Today, one can see migratory birds circling above the calm waters.

On this cycle tour, you will pedal your way through the narrow alleys of Old Delhi, which under the rule of the Mughal Emperor Shahjahan was one of the most beautiful cities in the world, and to the meditative quiet banks of the River Yamuna, which despite its current struggles with pollution, remains a revered holy river for the Hindus.

Here’s the plan…

Your Yamuna River cycle tour begins from Delite Cinema, one of the oldest theatres in the capital. The route that you will follow is:

  • Turkman Gate
  • Chawri Bazar
  • Chandni Chowk
  • Red Fort (from outside)
  • Yamuna River (tea break)
  • St. James Church
  • Old Delhi Railway Station
  • Jama Masjid (from outside)

Old Delhi roads are mostly chaotic but you will be guided safely by your guide, making your cycling experience smooth and comfortable. Your tour ends with a delicious breakfast at the famous Karim’s Restaurant which has acquired legendary status since its existence in 1913.
