Your hotel in Chiang Mai
Visit traditional Northern Thai villages, beautiful, well-preserved natural parks, and historical temples. Participate in several well-organised, rewarding treks and take back beautiful memories of your visit to Thailand.
You will be picked up from your Chiang Mai hotel and taken in a truck for this tour.
Drive through green and forested hills, plains and steep drops to the North of Chiang Mai. Stop at the Mae Malai local market and observe the local vendors selling their colourful fruits, vegetables, flowers and food.
Continue on your drive and stop to explore the Chiang Dao caves. These amazing caves are believed to stretch for about 14kms. Just outside the caves is a crystal clear pool containing some very large, well-fed sacred fish.
Take a break for lunch.
Drive along the mountain roads and then enjoy a 2 hour trek to the Lahu Hill Tribe Village. The Lahu people live in bamboo houses built on high stilts and thatched roofs.
Dinner and stay will be in a typical Lahu house at the village.
After breakfast, begin a 6 hour trek through the jungles along traditional trails to reach a Lisu Hill Tribe village. The Lisu is one of the main six hill tribes of Thailand. The people preserve their history in the form of songs passed from one generation to the next. The women are noted for their brightly coloured dresses.
Enjoy a perfect picnic lunch at a nearby waterfall.
Dinner and stay for the night will be in a typical Lisu house.
After breakfast, start a challenging 4.5 hour trek up and down the hills.
Take a lunch break. Ride through the jungles on elephant back and reach the Karen Hill Tribe Village. The Karen people (originally from Myanmar) form the largest of the major hill tribes of Thailand. They live in isolated picturesque villages of Northern Thailand. The women wear heavy brass rings around their necks from an early age.
Enjoy swimming or fishing in the river, stroll through the village or play football with the village children.
Dinner and stay for the night will be in a typical Karen house.
After breakfast, enjoy a 4 hour bamboo rafting with interesting stop en route to a Shan village. Stop at a Shan village. Originally from Burma, the Shan people have been largely assimilated into Thai culture though they retain many of their older ways and traditions.
Stop for lunch at a local Shan restaurant.
At the end of the tour, drive back to Chiang Mai where you will be dropped off to your hotel at around 1730h (5:30pm).
Please call the activity operator at least 24 hours prior to start of the tour to reconfirm departure details.
