Overview

Bratislava is a city steeped in history and culture. Home to former kings and queens, this Slovakia capital city has its share of stunning architecture, palaces and castles and some of the most impressive cathedrals in the world.

Learn more about Slovakia’s history and culture on this grand city sightseeing tour. Walk through the city’s famous Old Town area and see the historical landmarks of Bratislava like the Old Bratislava Town Hall, the Primatial Palace and the iconic St. Martin’s Cathedral.

Drive past the Presidential Palace and the Slavin – a moving tribute to 7000 Soviet Soldiers who died there during World War II.

Itinerary

The first part of your tour is by foot and the rest is by car.

Walk towards Michalska Gate, and then continue towards the Main Square, one of the most popular squares in Bratislava and the epicenter of Bratislava’s social life.

See the Old Bratislava Town Hall, one of the oldest stone buildings in Bratislava and the oldest city hall is Slovakia. The Bratislava City Museum is located within it.

See the Primatial Palace that houses the most fabulous collection of tapestries from the 17th century.

Walk over the Reduta, a spacious and prominent building in the historic Old Centre. It plays host to several classical music concerts and social events and is also home to the Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra. The Slovak Philharmonic is the premier Slovak concert establishment.

Finish the walking tour with a visit to the St Martin’s Cathedral , the biggest and one of the oldest cathedrals in Bratislava. This Gothic church was built on the site of the original Romanesque church. Its interior houses remarkable relief of the Holy Trinity.

Continue the second part of the tour by car towards the political quarter of Bratislava.

See the Presidential Palace: This is an impressive baroque palace with a French garden and is the residence of Slovakia’s President.

See the Bratislava Castle: This iconic landmark of Bratislava is the central and most prominent castle of castles that dot Bratislava. Standing atop a hill with a commanding view of both Bratislava and Austria, the castle was once the seat of Austro-Hungarian kings and queens. It now houses several museums.

Slavin: This is a historic cemetery located on a hill close to the city centre and is a monument to 7000 Soviet Soldiers who died there during World War II.
