Great Orangery Charlottenburg Palace
Relive the heyday of the Hohenzollern dynasty as you travel back to the Baroque era. Charlottenburg Palace was Prussia’s first cultural center, reaching its zenith under Queen Sophie Charlotte. At this time, concerts and operas composed by famous musicians were the highlights of courtly festivities.
Your evening begins with a magnificent three-course candlelit dinner in the enchanting setting of the Great Orangery. After the sumptuous meal, relax and listen to music from the 17th and 18th centuries including works by Bach, Handel, Mozart and Vivaldi. To make the atmosphere even more authentic, the musicians and soloists are all dressed in period costumes.
Tickets for Great Orangery dinners and concerts regularly sell out well in advance. Book online and make sure of your seat to enjoy this stunning Berlin experience.
Take a journey back into the 18th century when you attend a Charlottenburg Palace Prussian Night - Dinner & Concert. You will need to make your own way to the Great Orangery at Spandauer Damm 22-24, 14059 Berlin. Dinner will start at 1800h (6:00pm) so you should arrive at the venue at 1730h (5:30pm).
Charlottenburg Palace is the largest palace in Berlin. The magnificent building is surrounded by glorious gardens showcasing various architectural styles. The building was in its heyday in the 18th century under the Prussian King Frederick the Great who was an enthusiastic patron of the arts.
With the aim of preserving and maintaining the musical tradition of the former Prussian Court, a concert series by the Berlin Palace Orchestra was established at the Palace in 2006. Audiences are swept away on a musical journey back into the 18th century and the concerts have become extremely popular.
On arrival, you will be greeted by a royal Master of Ceremonies who will guide you through the evening. To start off the festivities, an exquisite three-course dinner inspired by the tastes of the Prussian monarchs will be served in the Great Orangery Charlottenburg Palace, a baroque architectural jewel. (For sample menu please see Additional Information on this website.)
After a romantic dinner, illuminated by hundreds of candles, the Berlin Residence Orchestra, its members and vocal soloists, dressed in period costumes, will perform masterpieces of the Baroque and early classical period. You will be treated to compositions by Johann Sebastian Bach, George Frideric Handel, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Antonio Vivaldi. Works by Frederick the Great himself and his court composer complete the musical experience.
The Berlin Residence Orchestra offers four concert ticket categories, namely: VIP (front row), A, B, and C. VIP guests will enjoy a glass of Champagne during the interval.
The concert lasts approximately 2 hours and at the end you will need to make your own way back to your accommodation.
Please call the activity operator at least 24 hours prior to start of the tour for reconfirming departure details.

Arriving at the large Palace in dark early evening it was very clear where the Candlelit Dinner and Concert event was being held as the East and West Great Orangeries were lit in a reddish orange array of floodlights and the many large windows of the West Wing had hundreds of small real candles flickering. On entering greeted by a Master of Ceremonies wearing Baroque era costume and wig.
Individually Guests were taken through a closed red velvet curtain to their assigned table. MC introduced each course in German and English, food and catering by Mariott was SUPERB. I would estimate the sold out Dining and Concert had between 250 to 300 Guests.
The Concert in 2 parts was hosted by the MC first part the Orchestra and Singers were in full Baroque period costumes with music from the era (Mozart etc) and later in full tails black evening attire playing music from later period including Strauss, Vilvaldi and also Ravel's Balero. Excellent music and songs VIP Guest seating was in front rows and served Champagne in intermission. A personal farewell by MC on departing the venue. The Palace a perfect setting for a Candlelit Dinner and Baroque Concert especially on New Years day evening 2018 in Berlin.
The dinner was delicious, and we enjoyed the concert- even if it meant a long retk through the rain. The Charlottenberg Palace was the perfect venue....
