Catalan Modernism is an eclectic movement initially expanding during the 19th-century, with the form gaining prominence through the expressive architecture, paintings, sculptures, and artworks by leading artists the world over.

The museum is situated inside the old Fabra & Coats textile factory, a modernist building designed by Enric Sagnier. The magnificent collection of modernist art includes works by many famous artists including Josep Llimona, Joaquin Mir and Josep Puig I Cadalfach, to name just a few. The museum also houses a room exclusively dedicated to leading Catalan architect Antoni Gaudi.

The exquisite collection is comprised of everything from paintings and sculptures, to furniture design. Exhibits showcase epic furniture pieces created by Antoni Gaudi, and other renowned artists like Gaspar Homar and Joan Busquets who are known for their unusual cabinet designs. A collection of paintings and sculptures by Santiago Rusiñol and Hermen Anglada i Camarasa are also on display.
