Overview

The best way to explore Montserrat Mountain is on foot. Take in the spectacular beauty of your pristine surrounds on a guided walking tour of the mountain, replete with scenic views and unique rock formations.

Not only is the Montserrat Mountain a unique natural park, it is also home to the Santa Maria de Montserrat, the holiest Catholic shrine in Catalonia. Enjoy breath-taking views from the Miranda de San Jeroni, considered the "roof" of the counties of Bages and Anoia, see the legendary Black Madonna in the monastery and stop at the different chapels along the mountain.

Itinerary

Meet the tour at the scheduled time at the meeting point in the morning. As you begin to climb the mountain towards the monastery, you’ll take an old shepherd's path that offers spectacular views over the surrounding area. You will pass the secluded chapel of Sant Benet. Continue the climb to the pass of Sant Salvador with more spectacular views of the massif.

Soak in stunning 360º views over the whole mountain and the plains far below, from the summit of Sant Jeroni, the highest peak on the mountain. Walk down the other side of the massif to the Santa Maria de Montserrat, the holiest Catholic shrine in Catalonia. Be sure to visit the Chapel of Our Lady of Montserrat where you can see the image of La Moreneta, a Black Madonna, dating back to the 12th century.

A hike along the Montserrat Mountain is much more than just beautiful. Rather, it is a spiritual experience in itself. Soak in the pristine mountainous surroundings and admire breathtaking views from different vantage points. The walk will cover old shepherd's paths, hidden stairways, secluded hermit's caves and tiny mountain chapels. The hike is not too strenuous and is appropriate for all ages. Your professional guide will be by your side constantly.

After the walk, you will be driven back to the starting point in Barcelona in the afternoon.
