Our tips for Bangkok

  • The word on the street in Bangkok is that westerners receive preferential seating on the top deck of Bangkok Cruises to better enjoy the scenery. While booking, you might want to add the name “Williams” or “Jones” to your full name to take advantage of this.
  • Then again, if you’re sensitive to Thailand’s heat and humidity, you might prefer to sit inside and enjoy the A/C.Consider making a special request at the time of booking.
  • If you are able, try booking a table on the right side of the cruise ship. Many of the top Bangkok attractions are seen from the starboard side during the return journey. And, you’d be too busy eating to enjoy them from the left side during the outbound portion of the cruise.

Good to know

The best time for a Bangkok Cruise is in December and January, when the skies are relatively clear and visibility is at its peak.  Because good weather is important when embarking on a Bangkok sightseeing cruise, you’ll want to avoid the rainy monsoon season between July and October.  February and November present interesting options in that they border on the hot season and monsoon season, respectively.  Thus, you’ll encounter slightly smaller crowds and a good chance at experiencing some decent weather.  Finally, Bangkok’s so-called hot season arrives in March and lasts until June.  While, the heat and humidity could put a damper on a Bangkok trip for some people, the hot season is when locals herald in the New Year to much fanfare.  With that said, plenty of visitors take a cruise down the Chao Pharaya during the hot season and enjoy the breeze created as they float down the river.
