Overview

Experience the beauty and rich Aboriginal culture of Uluru in the morning. Begin the day with the first rays of sunlight falling on the massive monolith of Uluru from Talinguru Nyakunytjaku viewing area. Enjoy refreshments while you watch the changing colors of Uluru at dawn.

After sunrise, head to Kata Tjuta, take the 1.3km walking trail through Walpa Gorge and relish a scrumptious breakfast at Ininti Café.

You will also meet a member of the Mutitjulu community who will narrate local legends and stories and teach you traditional bush skills.

What's the plan:

Travel in an air-conditioned coach from your hotel in Ayers Rock Resort to Talinguru Nyakunytjaku, a sunrise viewing area near Uluru.

Enjoy a cup of tea or coffee along with biscuits as you see the sun rising across the desert plains. Talinguru Nyakunytjaku offers magnificent views of Uluru as well as the 36 head-shaped domes of Kata Tjuta, also known as the Olgas.

See the changing colors of Uluru at dawn and enjoy panoramic views of the Red Centre Desert.

After spending some quality time at the viewing spot, you will head to tKata Tjuta. During the drive, the driver-guide will share notes about the geology of Uluru, local flora and fauna.

Explore the region and learn about the significance of Uluru – Kata Tjuta National Park as well as the stories and legends of the resident Anangu people.

Next, you will head for breakfast at Ininti Café with Uluru as your stunning backdrop. After breakfast you will meet a guide from the Mutitjulu community around a campfire, who will narrate folk tales that have been passed down over thousands of years.

Your guide will also tell you about the primitive tools that are used by the aboriginal men to hunt and carry heavy load. Learn to make bush glue to how to balance heavy wooden bowl in your head with a help of a head ring called the manguir. You will also get acquainted about how to throw a spear with a nanamiru, the world’s first missile launcher.

At the end of the tour, you will be dropped back to your hotel in Ayers Rock Resort.
