Itinerary

The Ochre Pass consists of 4 tours that you can enjoy within 3 days. The tours are:

Uluru Morning Guided Base Walk:

You will be picked up from your hotel or a common meeting point at the scheduled time in the morning. Travel to the iconic Uluru and start the day with a light breakfast. Explore the base of the Uluru with an expert guide in tow (approximately 10.5 kms). Starting at Kuniya Piti, hear the legend of the Mala Men.

Next is the Mala Walk, one of the most important habitation areas for the local Aboriginal people over thousands of years. The Mala walk includes a visit into Kantju Gorge, where after rainfall, water can cascade over the side of Uluru and plunge some 90 metres.

Break for some time before continuing on along the Lungkata Walk where your guide will tell you the Tjukurpa story of the cheeky Blue Tongue Lizard! Next stop is the Mutitjulu Waterhole, a tranquil pool at the foot of the breathtaking folds of the Uluru.

Your guide will indicate the natural features of the landscape, Aboriginal rock paintings and narrate more stories and local legends to you. The waterhole was once an important water source for the Anangu people.

Return to Kuniya Piti where you will board your coach back into town and receive a certificate of your achievement!

Uluru Sunset:

You will be picked up from your hotel and driven to Kata Tjuta (the Olgas) for an unforgettable sunset experience. Along the way, listen to informative commentary about the geological and cultural history of the area from your knowledgeable driver guide. Marvel at the unique flora and admire the view of the central valley of the domes of Kata Tjuta while you take in a magnificent outback sunset while snacking on canapés and sipping Australian wine. You will be dropped off to Ayers Rock an hour later.

Morning - Kata Tjuta Sunrise & Valley of the Winds:

You will be picked up from our hotel at the scheduled time in the morning and driven to Kata Tjuta (the Olgas) where your driver guide will explain the geological history of the area. Watch the spectacular sunrise over Kata Tjuta with Uluru in the distance from the western dune viewing area and savour a light breakfast.

Explore the Valley of the Winds lookout on a 2-3 hour walk with our guide in tow. Marvel at the unique flora and admire the view of the central valley of the domes of Kata Tjuta. Take in sweeping views of the many domes of Kata Tjuta and soak in the surreal desert landscape around you.

The tour will return to Ayers Rock after midday.

Afternoon - Kata Tjuta Sunset:

This afternoon enjoy a leisurely drive out to Kata Tjuta (the Olgas) for one of our favourite sunset experiences in Central Australia. Along the way your Driver Guide will explain the geological and cultural history of the area.
