Itinerary

You will be picked up from your hotel and will travel in an air-conditioned vehicle to the Reef Fleet terminal at Marlin Jetty from where you will board the catamaran for the cruise. As the catamaran pulls out of the jetty, enjoy the picturesque views of the blue water and the complimentary tea/coffee that you are served.

Enjoy a presentation on the Great Barrier Reef by a marine nature guide and learn more about how it was formed and the wide variety of marine life that thrives in these waters.

You will then arrive at the Outer Barrier Reef where you will spend 5 hours at the ‘Marine World’. This Outer Great Barrier Reef base comprises of a 2 storey platform and has as an underwater observatory, upper sundeck, children's swimming enclosure and a spacious deck. Lounge around the deck and visit the underwater observatory and see a fascinating variety of marine life.

You will also have the opportunity to enjoy snorkeling (equipment provided) with a guide, semi submersible tours with German and French-speaking crew or a coral viewing tour in a glass bottom boat incase you don’t want to get your feet wet!

Enjoy a hot or cold (as per your choice) tropical buffet lunch and later cheese and fruit along with afternoon tea/coffee.

I was very unfortunate with the weather in Cairns and did not really get to enjoy this trip. The weather had been poor for the previous week or so and therefore we could not see much out at the reef. Also the crossing on the catamaran was very choppy which was not pleasant.
