“Daintree Dreamtime" Rainforest & River Tours - the wonders of this unique and exciting region await you on our "Daintree Dreamtime" tour - showing you the best Daintree scenery , amazing indigenous experiences & attractions! Wildlife , Walking and Indigenous experiences all in one day !!
Your Tour: This Eco Certified Tour offers you the best Daintree Tours scenery and attractions! Travel north via the Captain Cook Highway, one of the world's most beautiful coastal routes, aside the Coral Sea & flanked by rainforest covered mountains with views of offshore islands.
You will be transferred by eco-friendly open electric shuttle, which quietly winds its way into the tranquil Gorge surrounds, towards an indigenous experience like no other! On a dedicated Ngadiku Aboriginal Dreamtime Walk (pronounced Nar-di-gul) you are welcomed with a traditional 'smoking' ceremony that cleanses and wards off bad spirits. The walk then meanders through stunning rainforest and takes in traditional huts or humpies. Your experienced interpretive Indigenous guide demonstrates traditional plant use, identifies bush food sources and provide an enchanting narrative of the rainforest and their special relationship with this unique tropical environment. A stop at 'the Beach', gives you the opportunity for a refreshing swim in this water hole, where your guide demonstrates traditions like making bush soaps and ochre painting. At the end of the walk enjoy traditional bush tea and damper. There is further time at the Gorge to relax or take a refreshing swim (subject to water volume) or walk with our own guide.
Just prior to lunch, we take a short trip into Daintree Village. This historic village was once at the heart of a then thriving timber industry, where loggers felled the magnificent large rainforest cedar trees for export. The timber gallery, (open most days) is now home to many unique species of sustainable and other recycled timbers, to create their world famous vases, bowls and other natural works of art.
Enjoy a lunch of wild barramundi (fish), salads and a special tropical fruit tasting, accompanied with juice, local grown tea and coffees, in the tropical surrounds of The Daintree Tea House (alternative to fish available).
Our next stop is the Daintree River for a relaxing one hour cruise. An experienced River Guide will reveal the special wildlife of the Daintree River, the domain of the estuarine crocodile as well as tree snakes, pythons, water birds and butterflies. A short tour of Port Douglas including Four Mile Beach, the Marina, and Flagstaff Hill. We stop for a short time where there is free time to enjoy a coffee and wander the shops. We finally return to Cairns via picturesque Palm Cove Village.
