  • Overview & Itinerary

This enchanting day tour to Lucerne and Engelberg allows you plenty of time to enjoy the many charms of both places!

In Lucerne, you’ll see the Lion Monument, a memorial to Swiss Guards killed during the French Revolution. Mark Twain described this sculpture of a mortally-wounded lion as "the most mournful and moving piece of stone in the world."

    You’ll also see a 13th century fortification and a 14th century bridge.

You’ll enjoy the pure, fresh mountain air of Engelberg, a picture-perfect alpine village!

Tour a Benedictine monastery, complete with a cheese making dairy Or enjoy an invigorating hike in the lovely surroundings.

Your memorable Engelberg Swiss Alpine Village Tour from Zurich experience begins when you meet the bus at the Sihlquai coach parking lot. Please check in at least 15 minutes before departure.

From Zürich, you’ll take the scenic route to the charming town of Lucerne. You’ll enjoy a short tour of the city’s main sights, such as the Chapel Bridge (Kapellbrücke), a wooden bridge first built in the 14th century, and the octagonal Water Tower (Wasserturm), a fortification from the 13th century.

Another popular sight is the twin needle towers of the Church of St. Leodegar, which was named after the city's patron saint.

You’ll also see the Lion Monument,a sculpture that commemorates the Swiss Guards massacred in Paris in 1792 during the French Revolution. You’ll then have some leisure time to enjoy as you please.

You’ll next go to Engelberg,a typical Swiss alpine village located in a sunny basin under the north-face of Mt. Titlis. Surrounded by majestic mountains, Engelberg was founded by Benedictine monks. Their imposing baroque-style monastery with the largest organ in Switzerland still dominates the center. Here you’ll plan your own itinerary. You can enjoy a stroll around the village, perhaps visiting the cheese factory and the monastery Or, if you prefer, you can hike one of the trails in the beautiful surroundings.

You’ll return to Zürich and will be dropped off at the Sihlquai coach parking lot. From there, you are free to make your own way back to your accommodation.
