When to go to Prague

The warmest time of the year in Prague is June – September, however even during this time you will find that temperatures rarely rise above 25 degrees Celsius, however in a city such as Prague, which must be discovered on foot this is ideal. During summer the clear blue skies are frequently disrupted by short bursts of rain, you are unlikely to find this annoying though, simply sit in a covered pavement café and enjoy a different perspective on the Prague skyline shrouded in rain against the grey sky.

Prague Temperature

Summer is when Prague’s art, music and theatre scene really starts to come to life. A range of festivals and events take place throughout the city catering to all tastes from opera to comedy to Shakespeare.

For many Prague is most alluring during the winter. Between December and February you are unlikely to see temperatures rise above zero, however the sight of Wenceslas Square and Prague Castle enveloped in snow is simply breathtaking. During this time you will find the medieval streets of Prague alive with a range of Christmas markets and the city is beautiful illuminated. Prague has become one of the most popular places in Europe to see in the New Year and on the 31st December the city hosts a range of street parties culminating in a spectacular firework display over the old town.
