When to go to Paris

So goes the famous song.... "I love Paris in the springtime, I love Paris in the fall, I love Paris in the Summer, I love Paris in the winter." And its true there is no such thing as a "bad" time to visit Paris.

Paris Temperature

Spring is a magical time in Paris. The city starts to come into bloom and the sight of the blossom trees along the banks of the Seine is beautiful. There is often a very cheerful air in the city, not least because Parisians get to welcome back their beloved pavement cafes which are sorely missed during the winter.

During summer the temperatures are warm and the days long. While summer time in Paris inevitably sees a rise in prices and people - the wealth of events and festivals in the city makes it worth the extra spend. Midsummer fireworks on the summer solstice, the vibrant gay pride festival and the French National day (Bastille Day) on the 14th July all bring a party atmosphere to the city. If you are bringing your family to Paris at this time they will love the "Paris Plage" – an artificial beach created on the banks of the River Seine.

As Parisians return to work from their summer break the city enters yet another new era. Autumn is a relaxed season in Paris. There will not be the number of events as festivals you will find during summer but you will find shorter queues and often reduce prices. The first week of October sees the famous Nuit Blanche when many of the museums and art galleries of the city are open all night for free.

As winter draws in and the days get shorter, Paris really starts to live up to its "City of Lights" title. Major monuments and boulevards are beautifully lit and this is one of the most romantic times to visit Paris. This is also a great time for families to visit, especially if you are planning a visit to Disneyland Paris where Christmas is celebrated in a grand fashion with a range of parades.
