Barcelona is blessed with a true Mediterranean climate which means the city is almost always drenched in sun.

Barcelona Temperature

Spring is a very peaceful time to visit Barcelona and the city is calm before the influx of tourists for the summer season. While you may not find the high temperatures of the summer you will find sunny and dry days in which you can explore the city at leisure.

Summer is when the city truly springs to life. The days are long, the temperatures warm and the parties plentiful. Barcelona bustles with life from May to September as the streets of the city are full of people, both locals who are taking a break from work and an abundance of visitors from all around the world.

Autumn is a very relaxed time to visit Barcelona, the visitor numbers, prices and temperatures all start to drop. This season is scattered with many public holidays, all of which will be celebrated in traditional Barcelona-style by throwing a huge party!

Even in winter you can still enjoy the Barcelona outdoor life and café culture, albeit with a jacket. If you are looking for a destination for a low-key Christmas then Barcelona may be the place for you, while the city is beautifully illuminated and trappings of Christmas are evident across the city it is much lower-key than in other European cities. Low-key cannot however be used to describe New Years Eve in Barcelona. As you might expect from such a party city a range of shows, concerts and street parties go on well into the new year.
