Spring is one of the favourite times to visit Amsterdam, largely as this is the time when the famous Amsterdam tulips are in full bloom. The window boxes that adorn the narrow houses and houseboats will be alive with colour and the famous gardens such as Keukenhof just outside the city will be simply stunning. This is also a happy time to visit Amsterdam, the rising temperatures and the longer days mean the locals welcome back their beloved café culture.

Summer is party season in Amsterdam. Temperatures are warm but never so stiflingly hot as to restrict a full days sightseeing, but it is the warm summer nights when the city really comes to life. A host of street parties and events take to the streets of Amsterdam many such as Gay Pride and Kwakoe celebrating the wonderful diversity of Amsterdam.

Autumn is a beautiful time in Amsterdam, Autumn colours adorn the city and this is the most peaceful time to visit Amsterdam. While there are still parties and celebrations across the city these tend to be more serene than the high-octane parties of the summer. During Autumn you will usually find the shortest queues at attractions and the cheapest hotel rates.

Winters in Amsterdam are both beautiful and hedonistic. Spectacular Christmas lights adorn most of the cities buildings and the magical illuminations are even further enhanced should you be lucky enough to see the city blanketed in snow. New Years eve see’s the biggest of all Amsterdam parties with Dam Square and the Leidseplein competing to see which can throw the biggest and best party.
