The beautiful valley of Mai Chau is a lush green paradise and a trip to its environs can be a highly rejuvenating experience.

Leave the noise and bustle of Hanoi and surrender yourself to the seductive charms of Mai Chau’s gently undulating hills, awash with green of every possible hue. See the hazy blue mountains reflected in the still glassy surfaces of the vast brown patchwork of paddy fields held in the bosom of this magnificent valley.

Go deep inside this rural heaven and enjoy a traditional Vietnamese lunch in the Pom Coong village here.

Set out on a light trek on dirt tracks that wind their way up and down through the valley. You might bump into a water buffalo or a bunch of children as they peer up shyly at visitors. Keep your camera handy and click away!

Itinerary

You will be picked up from your centrally located hotel in Hanoi and taken for a trek to the Mai Chau Valley. An English-speaking guide will accompany you on this tour.

Your trip starts with a transfer from Hanoi to Mai Chau and takes approximately 3 hours. Leave behind the hectic Hanoi streets and journey to the mountains surrounding Mai Chau valley. Stop at a vantage point to take in the view of Mai Chau, and enjoy a great photo opportunity.

Upon arrival in Mai Chau head to the Pom Coong village where your local guide will introduce you to your hosts for lunch and provide information on the region's people, their lifestyles, customs and culture. Lunch is a traditional affair with examples of local cuisine on offer. This is a great opportunity to get a feel of the local area.

Lunch will be followed by a 3-hour trek through the area. The people that live in the area are from the White Thai minority group. You will have an opportunity to visit a number of villages and learn more about their lifestyles, culture and customs. The trek is not overly strenuous and travels across uneven trails and up and down hills. There are plenty of opportunities to take a break, enjoy the scenery, take some photos or just relax.

Your trek ends back at Pom Cong village with a chance to take a break and say a final farewell to your lunch hosts.

Climb aboard your private transport for the trip back to Hanoi.

Your tour ends with a drop-off at your hotel in Hanoi.
