This tour is structured like a scenic crescendo, taking you through some of the Southwest’s most beautiful and formidable landscapes before arriving at the unsurpassed spectacle of the Grand Canyon.
You will be picked up from your Phoenix/Scottsale hotel by air-conditioned coach (vans will be used for smaller groups) and set out through the Sonoran Desert to central Arizona. You will be accompanied by an informative English speaking guide that knows the region well.
Covering more than 100,000 square miles in Arizona, California, and Mexico, the Sonoran Desert is the most biologically diverse desert in North America. Learn from your guide about the history and ecology of this harshly beautiful terrain. The saguaro cactus, whose delicate white flowers bloom between bristling spines, is one of some 2000 plant species native to the Sonoran landscape, which receives more rain than any other desert in the world.
Arrive in uptown Sedona, where your guide will assist you with checking in at your hotel. You’ll be on your own for the rest of the afternoon and evening in this charming area, which sports numerous galleries and shops that are as colorful as the surrounding countryside. You can also have a bite to eat at one of many wonderful restaurants and cafes. Guests may choose from a 2.5 hour local scenic and history tour or backcountry jeep tour. Arrive finally at one of nature’s great cathedrals, the incomparable Grand Canyon. Stops will be made along the canyon’s east and south rims, where the scale and splendor of nature’s genius will leave you breathless. You can also opt for a leisurely stroll along the rim.
The Grand Canyon is one of the seven natural wonders of the world, stretching for 277 miles, reaching a depth of nearly a mile, and showcasing some 2 billion years of geological history.

A dinner stop (payable direct) will be made on the way back to the Phoenix/Scottsale area. You will be dropped back at your hotel at tour’s end.
