This is the ideal tour for those who want the freedom to explore the Grand Canyon on their own.

The Grand Canyon is one of the seven natural wonders of the world, stretching for 277 miles, reaching a depth of nearly a mile, and showcasing some 2 billion years of geological history.

An optional helicopter ride and canyon rim tour let you see the area from all angles.

In addition, behold the extraordinary sandstone formations in Sedona’s Red Rock Country and enjoy a narrated tour of the expansive Sonoran Desert.

Trace your way along the slender roads that cut through Oak Creek Canyon and go shopping for keepsakes at a Native American art shop.

Day 1:

You will be picked up from your Phoenix/Scottsdale hotel by air-conditioned coach (vans will be used for smaller groups) and set out through the Sonoran Desert en route to Sedona. You will be accompanied by an informative English- speaking guide that knows the region well.

Covering more than 100,000 square miles in Arizona, California, and Mexico, the Sonoran Desert is the most biologically diverse desert in North America. Learn from your guide about the history and ecology of this harshly beautiful terrain. The saguaro cactus, whose delicate white flowers bloom between bristling spines, is one of some 2000 plant species native to the Sonoran landscape, which receives more rain than any other desert in the world.

Make your first stop of the day in Sedona’s colorful Red Rock country, where rust-colored rock formations, cool waters, and trilling birds have long been an inspiration to artists, filmmakers, and those simply in search of reflection. You’ll have time here for a coffee break (payable direct) and a chance to snap some photos of this unforgettable landscape.

Back in your coach, you navigate to the vast Navajo Indian Reservation.

Stop at the Cameron Trading Post and shop for beautiful Native American jewelry and crafts against the backdrop of the Painted Desert.

Arrive finally at the incomparable Grand Canyon, one of the seven natural wonders of the world.

This sculpture garden of stone gives off brown, yellow, and red hues that are amplified by a striking blue sky and wayward tufts of clouds. The landscape is otherworldly, like the surface of some distant planet waiting to be discovered.

Take a tour along the scenic East Rim Drive and stop at the Grand Canyon Village area. There is no guide for the Grand Canyon portion of the tour. You'll have the rest of the afternoon and the evening free to explore on your own.

You will stay overnight in the Grand Canyon area.

Day 2:

You’ll wake up in the heart of the Grand Canyon.

In the morning, you can choose between an optional helicopter ride (at additional cost) or more free time to explore the rugged splendor of the canyon.

You can take a leisurely walk along the canyon rim, making a stop at the Grand Canyon Visitor Center, or climb aboard the park’s local shuttle, which conveys you to other spectacular viewpoints.

You will be returned by coach to your Phoenix/Scottsdale hotel at the end of the tour.
