  • No place on earth compares to the Grand Canyon
  • See ancient petroglyphs that shed light on the lives of early man
  • There′s no better way to see the Colorado River than from the confines of a comfortable raft
  • Shop for distinctive Southwestern and Native American art on the Navajo Indian Reservation

Two of America’s greatest natural marvels—the Grand Canyon and the Colorado River—will be revealed by coach and raft in this fantastic 3 day adventure.

The Grand Canyon may be the most striking and humbling of nature’s inventions, a seemingly boundless gorge carved by the Colorado River and buffeted by the winds of millennia.

Take a slow drive along the rim of this wondrous place, admiring vast ranges of colorful rock formations shaped by the hands of time. Photographers will think they’re in heaven!

Board a raft on the shores of the Colorado River and drift serenely down this magnificent body of water.

Pass immense canyon walls that still bear petroglyphs from early inhabitants of the region and gaze at majestic trees that tilt towards the river, as if leaning in for a drink.

Behold the extraordinary sandstone formations in Sedona’s Red Rock Country and shop for keepsakes at a Native American art shop.

Itinerary

Day 1:

You will be picked up by air-conditioned coach (vans will be used for smaller groups) from your Phoenix/ Scottsdale hotel and set out across the Sonoran Desert. You’ll be accompanied by a tour escort that will point out all the can’t-miss sights along the way.

Covering more than 100,000 square miles in Arizona, California, and Mexico, the Sonoran Desert is the most biologically diverse desert in North America.

Pass through the Red Rock country of Sedona, where you'll make a brief stop among the rust-colored formations and clear streams that inhabit the same harshly beautiful landscape.

Stop at the historic Cameron Trading Post on the Navajo Indian Reservation. There, you’ll be able to browse a wide and eye-catching selection of Southwestern and Native American art and handicrafts. Enjoy an early lunch and time for shopping (payable direct).

Arrive at the incomparable Grand Canyon and drive along the East Rim for spectacular overlooks.

This sculpture garden of stone gives off brown, yellow, and red hues that are amplified by a striking blue sky and wayward tufts of clouds. The landscape is otherworldly, like the surface of some distant planet waiting to be discovered.

Spend free time in the Grand Canyon Village area, where rows of small shops are set against a staggering backdrop. Snap some memorable photos of the canyon or take a leisurely walk around the rim.

Depart for Flagstaff, where you will stay overnight.

Day 2:

Enjoy an early breakfast (payable direct) before meeting up with your escort and traveling by coach to the shores of the mighty Colorado River.

Arrive at the banks of the Colorado and board your raft. Float contentedly down the river, taking in towering canyon walls and lush riparian vegetation on this 4-hour trip. Ancient cave dwellers carved petroglyphs on the river’s rocky banks, and their still-vivid etchings speak across millenniums about the hopes and fears of early man.

You will retreat to the shore for a leisurely and satisfying lunch amid the peace of wild things.

Overnight in Sedona at the 2* Kings Ransom Hotel or equivalent.

Day 3:

Enjoy a day of leisure in the red rock country of Sedona. Explore on your own or allow us to schedule an option backcountry jeep excursion or historic tour. Return to Phoenix late afternoon.
