The tour begins at your hotel in Waikiki by mini-coach (55 seats) or minibus (25 seats) An English speaking driver cum guide will take you to the Honolulu Airport.
Then fly on an Island Air flight to Hilo on the big Island of Hawaii.
Drive through Hilo, the home of the Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Company and visit the cascading Rainbow Falls.
Then travel to Volcanoes National Park and view Kilauea, the world’s most active volcano.
Coast along the Chain of Craters road and view the natural landscape that has been shaped by volcanoes, a 20-mile journey. You will see craters, lava flows, tropical rain forests, mountains, and coastal areas.
Next, hike close to actual active lava flows that are often visible in the park. If lava is flowing on the surface or if time permits. (Park rangers will advise if lava is visible and closest viewing area) The walk may be 10 – 45 minutes, one-way, depending on location of flow. Sturdy, covered walking shoes are recommended. Surface lava flow change direction with only a moments notice, so we cannot predict where it will flow at any given time.
Next view the Kilauea Iki Caldera and see the volcanic steam buffs. Along the 11-mile Crater Rim Drive that circles the Kilauea Iki Caldera.
Then walk through the Thurston Lava Tube where you can walk through the remnants of a once active volcano.
Then learn more about the types of lava and rock formations at the Jagger Volcano Museum. Visit the Volcano House Observatory.
Finally take in the fragrant aromas at the Akatsuka orchid and anthurium nursery in Hilo and if time permits, a possible visit to a Macadamia nut factory (seasonal).
The tour will conclude with you flying back to Oahu where we will pick you up from Honolulu Airport and then drop you
at your hotel.
