There are two options for your exciting sailing trip: Shearwater Original Daytime Cruise and Shearwater Original City Lights Cruise
There is no hotel pick-up for this tour. Both cruises depart from North Cove Marina, where you will board the elegant vintage schooner Shearwater.
Built at the height of Roaring Twenties, 82-foot ‘Shearwater’ was the personal yacht of Charles E. Dunlap, a prominent New York City industrialist. She is superbly maintained, with sparkling paintwork, polished brass portholes and chrome trim. Her large Rangoon teak decks offer plenty of space for sitting and relaxing.
Below are mahogany-paneled staterooms, decorated with period furnishings, and a salon with leaded glass cabinets, fireplace, butterfly hatches and large gimbaled table.
Shearwater Original Daytime Cruise:
You will sail quietly past the Statue of Liberty, the Bridges and the historic sites of New York Harbor. You can admire the famous Manhattan skyline as you enjoy a complimentary drink served by the crew.
Depending on the winds and tides, the captain may sail up the Buttermilk Channel or out to the Verrazzano Bridge, which spans the ocean entrance to the Harbor.
At the end of your relaxing and enjoyable sail, you will be dropped back at the start point at South Street Seaport, Pier 17, East River.
Shearwater Original City Lights Cruise:
This option is the same as the Shearwater Original Daytime Cruise except that you will be sailing at night. You will see the Statue of Liberty spectacularly illuminated and reflected in the harbor waters. And you can watch the lights of the Big Apple twinkling around the bay as you sip your complimentary drink.
If you wish, you may also purchase a NY Picnic Basket. This includes a sandwich, a side salad and a dessert (cookie or fresh fruit) (approx price $23 per person).
At the end of a delightful evening sail, you will be dropped back at the start point.
