The start point of the tour is 207 High Street, Royal Mile, Edinburgh, EH1 1PE. You will be picked up at 0900h (09:00am)and taken to the tour destinations in an air conditioned Mercedes minibus.

Proceed north past Stirling castle, and then west to Scotland's first National Park around Loch Lomond and the bonny banks. Travel through the impressive mountains of the West Highlands and the magnificent white-washed 18th century town of Inveraray.

Spend the afternoon in the heart of Argyll exploring the area close to the ancient Kingdom of Dalriada before arriving in the bustling town of Oban, the gateway to the islands.

Spend the night in bed and breakfast accommodation in Oban. You will stay in either a superior guest house with private facilities or a 3/4 star hotel. Day 2:

Make an early start and cross on the ferry to Mull. Explore the dramatic coastlines and the wild beauty of the island.

Travel to Iona and soak in the peace and tranquillity of the region, which is the birthplace of Celtic Christianity and an ancient burial ground of Scottish Kings. Here, you can visit the historic abbey famous for its intricate carved crosses in the churchyard. You can also explore the rocky headlands and sandy coves of this island gem. You can also take a small boat out to the island of Staffa (except Saturdays in September) and view the dramatic basalt columns immortalised by Mendelssohn in his Hebridean Overture Fingal's Cave.

Return on a ferry to Oban. Spend the night in bed and breakfast accommodation in Oban. You will stay in a superior guest house with private facilities or 3/4 star hotel. Day 3:

Head north along the west coast around Appin, passing the impregnable Castle Stalker, and Glencoe, scene of the infamous massacre of the Clan Macdonald in 1692. You will then travel through Fort William and up to the Commando Memorial at Spean Bridge. Admire the great views over Ben Nevis, Britain's highest mountain.

Next, proceed along the Road to the Isles through the spectacular Five Sisters of Kintail, the mountains guarding the pass on the way to the Isle of Skye. Stop to visit the famous stronghold, Eilean Donan Castle, used in the film Highlander, set at the junction of 3 lochs, it was built as protection against Viking raiders.

Cross over the sea to Skye and travel up to the picturesque harbour town of Portree. Spend the night in bed and breakfast accommodation in Portree. You will stay in a superior guest house with private facilities or a 3/4 star hotel. Day 4:

Explore Skye at leisure. You can travel north to the stunning Quiraing Mountain Pass and enjoy a spectacular walk through some of Skye's extraordinary geological scenery. You can also see the Kilt Rock, composed of basalt columns with its waterfall cascading over the cliffs and down into the sea below.

After lunch, you can travel to Neist Point and take a walk to the lighthouse that is the furthest point west on Skye. Alternatively, visit the Dunvegan Castle, the ancient ancestral seat of the Clan McLeod. You could also visit the Talisker Distillery, or the famousCuillin Hills. Spend the night in bed and breakfast accommodation in Portree. You will stay in a superior guest house with private facilities or a 3/4 star hotel. Day 5:

Travel south through the Cuillin Hills and back over to the mainland and admire the stunning views over Loch Duich and the Five Sisters of Kintail.

Proceed to Loch Ness for lunch and if you are lucky enough, you might spot the Nessie. There is a boat trip (summer only) available here that will get you that bit closer.

Head south through the Grampian Mountains along Loch Laggan, made famous as the Monarch of the Glen Country before passing Dalwhinnie, home to Scotland's highest whisky Distillery.

On reaching Perthshire, stop for refreshments and then head back to Edinburgh past Perth and over the Forth Road Bridge.

You will reach Edinburgh at around 1900h (07:00pm). The drop off point of the tour is Waverley Bridge, Edinburgh.
