You will be picked up from your hotel in Bodrum in an air-conditioned vehicle for a Peninsula sightseeing tour by your multilingual (Flemish, French and German) guide.
From Bodrum, you’ll be driven to the market in Yalikavak. Here, you’ll be given over an hour to wander around the market and peruse the stalls. Textiles intermingled with sweet perfumes next to fruit vendors and olive stalls create an amazing shopping experience. The vendors have a kind and gracious countenance typical to the Balkans.
You’ll drive past the following places:
• Ortakent: The name Ortakent literally means middle town in Turkish. It has a beautiful beach, as well as fig, olive and mandarin groves.
• Gümüslük: Gümüslük is where the ancient city of Myndos once was. There is a purely authentic ambiance in the village, as there have been many restrictions put in place to keep it pure. The lack of touristic restaurants make it a refreshing change from other cities.
• Turgutreis: Turgutreis is the 2nd largest town on the Bodrum peninsula. The city was named after the renowned Turkish admiral Turgut Reis who was born there in 1485.
• Yalikavak: Yalikavak is situated on the coast, and therefore has a stronghold in the fishing industry. You’ll see waterside restaurants serving fresh fish, as well as beaches.
The tour will break for lunch at Gumusluk with fish, salad and a variety of mezes including yogurt mezes.
You’ll be taken back to your hotel in Bodrum where your tour ends.
