Jogja or Yogyakarta is home to many important tourist attractions of Indonesia. Browse around the Sultan’s Palace and you will come across centuries-old musical instruments and other antiques. The temple of Prambanan, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is known for its tall, pointed architecture, typical of Hindu temples. There are 224 temples in the complex, of which the three main temples are the Brahma Temple, Vishnu Temple and the 47- metre high Shiva Temple. A tour of the Borobudur Temple will give you a glimpse into the Buddhist culture and tradition. Built on a hilltop in the 8th century by the Cailendra dynasty, the temple is a miniature model of the universe. With a visit to the temples of Yogyakarta, your Javanese excursion will be truly memorable!
