Tour to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Saint Emilion |
Enjoy a day-long tour to one of the world’s most famous vineyards, also a World Heritage Site
| Overview | |
On this day-long excursion travel to one of the world’s most famous vineyard regions, Saint Emilion. The Saint-Emilion vineyards are located in the north-east part of the Gironde department, on hillsides overlooking the Dordogne valley. Spread across 5 400 ha, this region boasts of no less than 822 winegrowers. Vines grow all around this medieval town and create an unimaginably picturesque scene. Most of the vineyards are family-owned. It is said that the Romans planted vineyards here as early as the 2nd century A.D. Due to its fascinating Romanesque churches and ruins stretching all along steep and narrow streets and its vineyards, Saint Emilion is also listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
