Wine Tour to Nitra and Topolcianky Chateau |
Enjoy wine-tasting and a sumptuous lunch at the Topolcianky Chateau in Slovakia
| Overview | |
This tour offers you a wonderful opportunity to explore the surrounding areas of Bratislava, equally famous for their rich history as for their wine. Nitra is the oldest town of Slovakia, having been inhabited since 6000 years. Its 11th century Nitra Castle is the most prominent monument and houses the diocese of Nitra. Just 100 kilometres east of Bratislava, in the wine region around Nitra lies Topolcianky. A quiet village set in a verdant valley between two mountain ranges, it provides a nearly ideal respite from city life. The village houses both Chateau Topolcianky, the winery, and Chateau Topolcianky, a landmark in itself. Enclosed within a large English park with a wide variety of rare exotic species, this chateau was the summer residence of the Habsburg family and later, the summerhouse of the Czechoslovak presidents. This tour also includes a sumptuous three-course meal and wine-tasting.
