Set in the heart of Zululand, the 96,000-hectare Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Game Reserve is the oldest game reserve in Africa. This is also the place where the Dingiswayo and Shaka tribes used to hunt. The Reserve has attained world-wide fame due to its concerted efforts in saving the rare white rhino from extinction. Now, its focus is on saving the black rhino. With rolling hills, open savannah and dissected by the White Imfolozi and Hluhluwe River, this reserve is visually arresting. A game spotting safari or a guided walk through the bush can be a memorable experience. Come across some of the Big Five and other animals like cheetahs, zebras, blue wildebeest, spotted hyenas, giraffes and wild dogs. More than 300 species of birds have made this Reserve their home. Come to Durban and spend time in Africa's oldest game reserve.
