If you thought that all there is to the Whitsunday region are reefs and beautiful islands, think again. With a network of wetlands and estuaries and surrounded by mangroves and ‘melaleuca’ forest, the region is a storehouse of wildlife with numerous birds, mammals, reptiles and marine life. On this tour, enjoy a cruise in the Proserpine River which is home to crocodiles. Learn more about the mangrove ecosystem and the crocodiles from a knowledgeable guide. Later, if you feel like stretching your legs you could take a guided nature walk and explore the region. A delicious Australian barbecue lunch and Billy tea and ‘damper’ will follow to boost your flagging energy. Watch as your guide captures the Australian mudcrab and you can later savour the taste of this delicious crab.
